Hi, I've had a look around and Obsession seems to be a really good app, at least what I'm looking to use it for. Anyway, it seems to install fine, but when I try and login using my LiveJournal username, it tells me that the "account already exists" so I can't use it to get updates. Any way I can fix this?

Also, after that I was experiencing the same error as daisuki with it not being able to load properly, but after trashing the preferences, it started up okay again, only to not let me log in.

I'd love to be able to get this working; it'd make me very happy.

[Edit: I'm running the latest version of Leopard i.e. 10.5.2]

Any idea when Obsession will work with Leopard? It opens on the first run but won't allow me to add accounts, eventually stops responding and then quits. Launching it again results in the app simply closing.

I'm noticing that the last update was a while back, but I'm really hoping this client isn't dead. It's really useful. : )

Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but I'm getting notifications about once every minute. Each time I open my friends page after a notification I don't see any changes (unless obsession is counting comments). All I'm interested in is knowing if one of my friends has made a new post—is that possible?

NOTE: I've had similar problems with Windows clients.

If I added AppleScript support to Obsession…would anybody use it?

Obsession 1.1.1 is really almost ready now. It's a Universal Binary and contains a whole boatload of rewritten code (for efficiency and clarity's sake) and patches to every leak that 1.1 has, as far as I know.

I should be tossing it up this week, after I run it for a bit.

A few changes that may be apparent in the prefs are version/copyright info at the bottom of the window, and the group checkboxes not drawing as disabled when "All Groups" is checked (since they were never really disabled).

In the next major revision after 1.1.1 (probably, surprise, 1.2), I'd like to implement a few more things, like the ability to check each friend group independently (though still on the 2-minute timer that LJ wants, or whatever is sent back with the reply).

All the memory leaks I could find have been fixed. Now I just need to clean up a bit of stuff and a universal version should be ready soonish.

I've just updated to a paid account (about time!) so I can actually test the changes I'm making to Obsession (which are currently just bug fixes and cleanup).

I've no idea how many people actually use this anymore, but for those that do, stuff is being worked on…

Wow, nothing posted in here for a while.

Any chance of a universal version of obsession?

Subject:Opening vs. Refeshing friend's pages
Time:03:56 pm
If Obsession alerts me that a friends filter has been updated, and I select it through Obsession, Obsession opens a new instance of the page, even if it's already open.

i.e.: I have Obsession set to inform me of updates to my comics filter:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/ragingemu/friends/comics
If I have that page open in Safari, and use the Obsession menu item to refresh it / dismiss the new entries alert, Obsession opens the exact same url in a new tab.

When Obsession hasn't alerted me of new entries, I can select the filter name once for a refresh, the second time opens it in a new tab. This behavior seems to be consistent across tab after tab opened by Obsession.

I've never noticed this behavior in other OS X software. Friends alerts from my full LiveJournal client, xjournal, refresh already open pages, so this doesn't seem like it's a LiveJournal server-side issue.

Any ideas on fixes?

Been trying the client for the past day or so. Like the idea a lot; prior to this I'd been using an LJ widget for Konfabulator.

Once it's been up and running awhile, however, it seems to stop notifying. Anyone else encountering this issue? I don't run into the same problem with the widget, so I don't think it's tied up in the checkfriends protocol...
